INTRODUCTION

Points to note –

INTERACTION DETAILS

1. Set Up Coop –

  • To be done once per sim for all coops.
  • Has to be redone if coop becomes dirty.

2. Buy Chickens –

  • Has to be done once per sim for all coops.
  • Has to be redone if chicken dies (very rare) 
  • Buff – ‘New poultry‘ (+2 Happy, 2 sim hours)



3. Feed chickens –

  • Requires one Chicken feed in the inventory. 
  • After feeding Checking for eggs interaction becomes available. 
  • Can feed once every 12 hours.
  • Relationship gain.
  • New animation.



4. Check for eggs – 
  • If you check for eggs within 3 hours, there would be a notification that eggs are not ready. 
  • After 3 hours, eggs become ready to be collected.
5. Collect Eggs – 
  • Sims get a carton of egg in the inventory.
  • Have to wait some time for the feed feature to be available again. 
  • New animation.
  • Gives buff – ‘Bountiful Eggs‘ (+1 Energized, 8 sim hours)

EGG CARTON

  • Found in the inventory after collecting
  • Can be opened
  • Sim will receive good eggs and bad eggs in inventory
  • Can occasionally receive golden eggs 
  • On eating good eggs: buff – “Egg-cellent” (+3 Energized, 2 sim hours)
  • On eating Bad eggs: “Something Rotten” (=1 Uncomfortable, 2 sim hours). Bad eggs can act as a good quality fertilizer.
  • Golden eggs can be sold for 800 simoleons




6. Look for Easter eggs –

  • Will get 3 different types of Easter egg in the inventory.
  •  Edible. 
  • Can be sold. 
  • 12 different varieties. Edible.
  • New animation.
  • Gives buff – ‘Easter Eggs’ (+1 Happy for 24 sim hours)
  • Can be done once per day

7. Rename coop 

  • Name the chicken/chicken coop
  • Build relationship with the coop
  • Chicken Coop icon will appear in the relationship panel under the new name



8. Observe – 

  • Relationship gain.
  • Gives buff – “Chick Magnet” (+1 Happy, 2 sim hours)


9. Converse with Chickens– 

  • Relationship gain.
  • Fills Social motive
  • Gives buff – “Fowl Conversation” (+1 Energized, 8 sim hours)



10. Play with Chickens – 

  • Relationship gain.
  • Fills Social Motive
  • New animation.
  • Gives buff – “Chick Magnet” (+1 Happy, 2 sim hours)


11. Hug Chickens – 

  • Relationship gain.
  • Fills Social Motive
  • New animation.
  • Gives buff – “Hen Hugger” (+3 Happy, 2 sim hours)


12. Tell Story – 

  • Relationship gain. 
  • Fills Social motive
  • Gives buff – “Told a great story” (+1 Inspired, 12 sim hours)


13. Insult/Use Fowl Language– 

  • Relationship Loss.

RELATIONSHIP

  • Sim can start gaining relationship with the coop/chicken after naming the coop
  • Chicken appears in relationship panel (icon is a bit blurry)
  • Relationship gain – Converse with chickens, hug chickens, play with chicks, tell story
  • Relationship Loss – Insult Chicken/Use Fowl language

DISEASES

All diseases are fictitious

Fowl Flu

  • 20% chance of contracting the disease from tending to the chicken coop( feeding, collecting eggs etc)
  • Mild self limiting illness
  • Infectious during 1st phase
  • Consists of 3 phases lasting for 24 sim hours each
  • Phases are – Prodrome (Aches and Pains), Acute Phase ( Hot and Leaky), Convalescent (Get Well Soon)
  • Symptoms : Prodrome – Mild Fever, nausea sneezing and coughing with need decay.
  • Symptoms : Acute Phase – Severe Fever, nausea sneezing and coughing with need decay
  • Symptoms : Convalescent Phase – Headache, dizziness, nausea
  • Disease confers immunity for 7 sim days
  • Can be cured at any stage by drinking Orange Juice. If cured by orange Juice, then no immunity development (Requires orange juice override)

Simonella

  • 30% chance of contracting the disease from eating bad eggs and 5 % chance from eating good eggs
  • Mild self limiting illness
  • Not Infectious
  • Consists of 3 phases lasting for 24 sim hours each
  • Phases are – Prodrome (Unusually Bad), Acute Phase ( Simonella), Convalescence 
  • Symptoms : Prodrome – Mild Nausea with need decay.
  • Symptoms : Acute Phase – Severe Fever, nausea, weight loss with need decay
  • Symptoms : Convalescent Phase – Dizziness with weight loss and need decay
  • Disease confers immunity for 7 sim days
  • Can be cured at any stage by drinking Orange Juice. If cured by orange Juice, then no immunity development (Requires orange juice override)

ISSUES

1. Buffs are applied per sim so interactions are sim specific
2. Some clipping issues in custom animations. The animations are not perfect.

I still platy with my chicken and I was wandering a few things : do you think there could be a way to buy Feed for the chicken with a phone or computer action or even may be by a click on the coop just like we buy the chicken? Are you going to make some specific recipes or see with Graycurse for replace the cooking eggs by yours? I'm waiting with your next creations with impatience!

  8. I am having an epidemic in my sims town. Where ever I go the sims have fowl flu. Is there anyway to stop that. I really wanna have the coop but sims cant feel heal. All my townies are sick.

  9. Hey when one sim starts showing symptoms of fowl flu then a orange juice ( requires override file) will cure them instantly. I may upload a disease free version a little later.

  12. This is awesome! I'm just a bit confused… one of my sims got over Fowl Flu, and then her husband (who was still on stage 2) got home and went to bed, and she's caught it all over again. I thought only stage one was infectious?

  13. Hi! Thank you so much for this but also for all your other mods. I have them all! I also have a question, I can't clean the chicken coop. The option is there, my sim will start the action but will clean on and on until exhaustion and nothing changes. After one whole day the coop was still dirty. I suppose this may be caused by a conflict with a CC I have. Still I was wondering if anyone else reported such issue and maybe knows what causes it.Other than that THANK YOU again! And I'm not giving up the coop even with this glitch. 🙂

  16. Hello, I recently downloaded this mod and I loved it at first, I collected the first batch of eggs, and the coop hasn't made any since. I've waited 2 sim weeks and no eggs. Also the cleaning option is endless, if I don't stop it myself the action would go on forever. Any reason why these things happen?

  17. Have you fed them again? That's the trigger to get more eggs. I did find that, after feeding them, and us having to leave the lot for work (he's an actor, my Sim), when he got back he had no option to collect the eggs nor to check, nor to feed the chickens – and I had to manually go and remove the buff that was left behind (I think it was Chicken_Feed_Block from memory).

  19. I'm not sure what happened, but I have the BG file in my game and all of my sims are sick. 😦 I downloaded on what appears to be 2/17/19. Do you know if there was a mix up in the files? Thank you! I'm super excited about this mod.. I love my RL chickens! ❤

  21. Hey, my chicken coop wont get clean? is it supposed to take all day? I've tried resetting the object, resetting the game, and deleting and redownloading the mod. But my chicken coop won't get clean and my sims sits there all day cleaning it. What can I do to fix this?

  25. Thank you for this mod, it's amazing! I ran into a problem, though: My sims got Fowl Flu and I let them ride it out, but they didn't develop immunity. The day after they got out of stage 3 they got the flu again from a still infected townie.

  26. this mod is so cool and unique !! although, i do have a bit of a problem. my sims can feed, name, and do all the interactions with the coops, but whenever i go to collect eggs, i get the buff for 3 dozen, but they don't show up in my inventory. i also have no option to clean them. i've tried both versions, but it still doesn't work…

  28. Absolutely loved this until my sim got fowl flu… he didn't develop immunity and now the whole town has it! Basically made the game unplayable so had to delete the mod 😦 Really hope this gets fixed/removed so I can re download it

  31. but the Easter eggs still work in the basket as one can find them in the henhouse now? because when my toddlers or childrens eat them in the basket , the Easter eggs reappear on the ground, when it is eaten from the basket. Only for prevent you.

  32. I might just not see it but i cant seem to find the chicken feed :/ i dont have any option to buy it from either the coop itself or online from my computer and if i try to use cc to place it on the ground, my sims cant pick it up at all. whats going on?

  35. What do you mean by “use cc” to put it on the ground? You get the food from build/buy, no idea why your sims can't pick it up. Have you tried left clicking and dragging it onto your sim, or into their inventory, in live mode?

  38. Hello!! Thank you for your mods!!! This chicken coop is AMAZING!!! I think it adds so much to the game. I also have downloaded the bees box with honey and wax, but I have not tried it in my game yet.I have tried the Chicken Coop GTW version. I have seen some issues that I thought to mention, in case they can be addressed. I have sent my sim to search for Easter eggs, and most of the times a message says that they found Easter eggs, but the eggs are never stored in the sim's inventory. Also, locating the Easter eggs is inconsistent. After receiving the message that Easter eggs were found, sometimes I can find them in the household inventory, and other times there is nothing there. And like I said before, I have never had them stored in the sim's individual inventory.One more time (never enough), thank you for your creations!!!

  43. Hi! I don't know if this is just something I'm doing wrong on my end, so sorry if it is! I downloaded this (BG w/diseases) on the 23rd of April so I definitely have the most recent version. Every time I try to open a carton of eggs, I get three Last Exception errors, my sim is reset and the carton remains the same. Here's the file: https://pastebin.com/CjWFMM3B

  44. Obviously just a user like you – but have you tried running the game with just the chicken coop mod? I don't mean to save it like that (because obviously you will lose any custom stuff from your save) but you can for sure load it up to test it out. What I usually do when I get an LE is move all my mods and CC (except for the files for the chicken coop in this case) out of the mod directory, delete localthumbcache.package from the Sims 4 folder, copy the save game directory to somewhere safe, then load up the game again, so I'm basically running the game vanilla apart from the erroring mod. Perhaps try that then try opening the egg carton again and see if you still get errors. If it runs okay, then there's probably some kind of buggy mod or conflict, and if you still have problems, it's probably helpful to detail what game version you have, what operating system.

  45. Thanks for the advice! I have since moved everything but the coop file out of my mods folder and deleted the localthumbcache.package. Unfortunately, the problem persists. I appreciate the response. I'm running Windows 10 and game version 1.51.77.1020.

  46. I just tested it on the same setup as you – windows 10, same game version – and it's working okay for me so I'm not sure what it might be. Hopefully with that LE Icemunmun will know.OTOH while testing this, my sim came down with fowl flu – I got him some OJ but it didn't remove the debuff and so I purchased some medicine – at which point he got a dazed debuff for taking medicine while he wasn't sick! So I had to manually go through and remove the fowl flu debuffs one at a time – thankfully, after that, he now correctly has the fowl flu immune buff and doesn't appear to have infected his other half, even though he was breathing his germy breath all over her while she made impeccable lemon jelly! No errors though

  50. So further testing on Fowl Flu – apparently medicine just doesn't recognise it as an illness or cure it. I'm not sure what glitched with the OJ but second time around, it seems to be working so I guess it was some weird glitch I can't replicate. But no matter what I do, I can't get straight medication to work even with just the chicken coop in game. It refuses to cure it, and just gives him the debuff/message about taking medicine when he's not sick. Though I DO have the GTW version, not the BG version (plus the OJ override) which might explain why I couldn't replicate the egg issues.
